01Who we are
This policy covers the World Simulation app for iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro and Mac, developed by Devpool (France), which is responsible for the app. World Simulation is an independent product and is not affiliated with Apple, Google or any map provider.
02What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising or tracking SDKs. The app never asks to track you across other apps.
- No analytics or crash-reporting services.
- No account or email with us. You play with your Game Center identity, or without one.
- We don't run servers that collect your data, and we never sell it.
03Playing online
Game Center
Online rooms, invites, friends, leaderboards, achievements and challenges are provided by Apple's Game Center. Game Center shares your Game Center name and game data with the other players in your room. If you allow access to your friends list, it's used only to show your friends first and to tell you when they're online. Apple processes this data under its own Privacy Policy.
Who's online
So players can find each other around the world, while you play the app publishes a small presence record in the app's public iCloud database:
- your player name and a random player identifier;
- your in-game position (updated about every 30 seconds), city and country;
- the vehicle and game mode you're using.
Other players of World Simulation can see this record. It is never published near the home address you set up in the game. The position is where you are driving in the virtual world, not where you really are. Passenger GPS, the only mode that uses your real location, is offline only and never publishes anything.
Voice chat
Voice chat is off until you turn on your microphone. Your voice then streams live to the players in your room. It is never recorded or stored by the app.
Text chat
Chat messages go only to the players in your room and aren't stored anywhere else. Links are removed and offensive words are filtered. You can mute or block any player. If you report a player, your email app opens with a pre-filled message to us, and you choose whether to send it.
SharePlay
During a SharePlay session, the participants in your FaceTime call see your position, vehicle and actions, through Apple's SharePlay service.
04Permissions we ask for
Location (while using the app)
Used only by Passenger GPS, so the train or car you're riding moves on the map with your real position and speed. Your real location stays on your device: it is never published or shared with other players, and other modes never read it.
Camera and LiDAR (iPhone and iPad)
Used only when you scan your home. Apple's RoomPlan turns the scan into a floor plan of walls, doors, windows and furniture on your device. No photos or video are kept.
Microphone
Used only for voice chat in online rooms, while your mic is on.
Hand tracking (Apple Vision Pro)
Used to steer with your hands and for hero gestures. visionOS processes hand data on the device, and the app never stores it.
Game Center friends
Used to list your friends first and to see which of them are playing.
Notifications
Used only to tell you when a Game Center friend comes online, if you turn that on.
05What stays in your iCloud and on your device
Your settings, selected vehicles, player name, in-game money, statistics, last position and your home (the address, floor and floor plan you set up) are saved on your device. They are also synced through your own private iCloud storage, so you find them on your other devices. We can't access your private iCloud data. Session history, blocked players and downloaded map data stay on the device. When you host friends in your home, the invited players, or the people in your SharePlay call, receive your floor plan and your home's location so they can visit.
06Map, weather and other data providers
To build the world where you're playing, the app asks these services for data about that area. Like any website, they receive your IP address and the coordinates or area requested. They receive no name, account or identifier from us.
- OpenFreeMap: map data from OpenStreetMap (roads, buildings, water).
- Amazon Web Services: public terrain elevation tiles.
- Open-Meteo: current local weather.
- Radio Browser: nearby radio stations. The stations you play stream from their broadcasters' own servers.
- adsb.lol and adsbdb: live air traffic and flight routes, when you turn live flights on.
- Apple Maps: address search, directions and place names.
- Wikipedia / Wikimedia: landmark photos and information.
- Google Maps Platform: only if you turn on the optional preview features (3D distant scenery, Street View when stopped). Google's Privacy Policy applies.
07Purchases
Packs and the Complete Edition are in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
08Children
World Simulation isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. Parents can restrict online play, chat and friend requests through Screen Time and Game Center restrictions on the device.
09Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask to access or delete data about you. Most of it lives on your devices and in your own iCloud: deleting the app and its iCloud data (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage) removes it. Your public presence record is deleted as soon as you leave the app. For any other request, contact us. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
10Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and the date above.
